Existing pelican crossing to be upgraded to a toucan.
Chesterton Rd could easily be made a more pleasant environment for walking and cycling. At 11m wide there is space for two 2m cycle lanes and 3.5m traffic lanes.
The central refuges should be removed or moved to protect the cycle lanes instead of forming a series of pinch points.
Wide cycle lanes also make the environment more attractive for walking by increasing seperation to the traffic and removing the need for on-pavement cycling facilities.
